About

I am Kay(la). I am a thirty year old, Virginia based travel blogger and communications manager at a non-profit organization. At the end of the road, I would hope I can say I lived a thousand lives as a lover, creator, teacher, and explorer.

I began blogging my sophomore year of college because I loved to write and I was just getting my feet wet with photography. At the time, I wrote about what interested me, which was style and beauty. When I graduated, I became an elementary school teacher, a career I knew I wouldn’t stay in long. During the three years I taught, I had a rapidly growing interest in traveling, saving every dollar I could to go where I could afford.

My life changed drastically in 2019 when my mom and I simultaneously battled cancer and she eventually succumbed to the disease in December of that year. I quit my job almost immediately with plans to travel and transition into a new career in digital marketing. Just as I was gearing up to begin globetrotting, COVID-19 plagued the world, and my plans were put on pause. I couldn’t be held down long, though, because in 2021, I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back since.

I have grown into womanhood with strength, grace, and a zest for life that I never could have imagined. Travel has fostered much of my curiosity, self-awareness, and passion, and I want to share that with you.
