Five Golden Rings and Festive Things at Birdie’s Bar & Cafe | Richmond, VA

I know many good spots in my city, but I’ll be the first to say I don’t know them all. I was introduced to Birdie’s over the summer and had been hearing great things about it. Looking for Christmas-y things to do, I was surprised to find that Birdie’s creates an annual pop-up called The Evergreen that transforms the space into a winter wonderland with extravagant decorations that are sure to bring you holiday cheer.

If you’re looking for a magical way to get into the Christmas spirit, Birdies is located in Richmond’s art district and is an absolute must-visit this holiday season. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday—there’s just something about hearing carols and seeing the unique and colorful decorations everywhere that gives me joy.

At Birdie’s, you’re immediately greeted by the festivity but also by the delicious menu and top-notch hospitality. I tried the Breakfast Sandwich with egg, cheddar cheese and pepper jelly on sourdough (add bacon, of course) and paired it with two cocktails: the fan-favorite “Five Golden Rings, made with bourbon, fig, lemon, honey, and five spice and then the rich and creamy frozen Eggnog, also made with bourbon.

My visit was no more than an hour, but one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in Richmond. I’m anxious to visit again to sample more of the brunch menu, try all new dishes on the dinner menu, and of course, experiment with other cocktails.

The Evergreen is open from November 15, 2024 to January 4, 2025, and it’s a festive vibe you don’t want to miss. Walk-ins are always welcome, but reservations are recommended.
