Hotel Ändra Seattle: A Boutique Retreat with Nordic Charm
I spent the first week of my trip to Seattle at the Sheraton Grand, as I was traveling for work. Once I was in vacation mode, I switched to the lovely Hotel Ändra, a boutique hotel in downtown Seattle. These days, I favor boutiques, as they’re a bit more intimate and the staff always seems to genuinely care whether you have a great stay.
Hotel Ändra is roughly a 25 minute drive from Sea Tac Airport, has plenty of great food options nearby, including Lola immediately downstairs in the lobby, and it’s not far from favorite attractions like Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, Seattle Waterfront and more. If that hasn’t sold you, it is also incredibly chic and cozy—the perfect combination in my mind.
You know how some hotels feel impersonal? Hotel Ändra is the exact opposite. It’s a boutique hotel, which means it’s intimate, beautifully designed, and full of thoughtful details. The staff at Hotel Ändra was great about making recommendations for great food in the neighborhood, helping us arrange car service to the airport, and pointing us in the direction of convenient amenities like a fountain to refill our reusable water jugs and the 24/7 gym. While I know it’s part of their job, it also makes a difference to me how staff communicates with me, and I found every single person at this hotel to be friendly and helpful.
One of the best things about Hotel Ändra is that it puts you right in the heart of downtown Seattle. You’re never too far from where you want to be. It’s an easy walk to:
Pike Place Market: Grab a coffee, shop, and watch the fishmongers do their thing.
The Space Needle & Chihuly Garden: Touristy? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. Head to the monorail just around the corner and purchase a one-way or round-trip ticket to these famous attractions.
Seattle Waterfront: If you’d just like to take a scenic walk or perhaps get on the ferris wheel or get a view of Mt. Rainier on a clear day, head here.
MoPOP & The Seattle Art Museum: If art and/or culture are your thing, you won’t have to go very far to find it.
The design is modern but cozy, which is what drew me to the hotel from the start. I love minimalist vibes with warm wood tones, Scandinavian-inspired touches, and details like coffee table books or travel guides that make the space feel a bit homey. The rooms are spacious with plush bedding, a desk for working, comfy seating for relaxation, and windows that let in tons of natural light.
If you need a bite to eat, you could head downstairs to Lola with its Greek-inspired dishes. You can find breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert here for your convenience, and the food is delicious.
Maybe Mediterranean food isn’t your vibe. If that’s the case, you’ll find Serious Pie Pizza and Dahlia Bakery directly across the street, Din Tai Fung just down the street for some delicious pho, and Biscuit Bitch not far for one of the best breakfast biscuits you’ll ever have in your life. If you’re debating where to stay in Seattle, Hotel Ändra makes it easy for you, and it’s 100% worth it. It’s stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located for whatever kind of trip you imagine yourself having.
