Staycation: St. Gregory Hotel, Washington D.C.

I have stayed at more hotels in Washington D.C. than anywhere else. Before the recent 2023 spike in crime, it was a great place for a staycation from Richmond since it’s only a couple hours away.

This particular trip, I was in Washington D.C. for the opening night of Victoria Monet’s Jaguar tour, which was outstanding, by the way. I wanted an affordable hotel for a one-night stay, and when I came across the St. Gregory hotel, I knew this was it.

Tagged as “Sophisticated Design Meets Historic Culture,” this 4-star hotel is incredibly chic and perfectly situated between Dupont Circle, the West End, and Georgetown so there is plenty of access to restaurants, shops, and more. If you’re there for a short time or don’t feel up to going out in the city, the hotel also has a restaurant, Ellington Park Bistro, on the main floor and a gorgeous bar space. I happened to not need all of the available amenities, but the St. Gregory has everything you could need from a full fitness center, laundry service, valet service and more.

The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly from the valet to the front desk to the bar. The rooms are simple but stylish with complimentary water and coffee, slippers and robes, and toiletries. If you need a workspace when you travel, there’s an extensive desk space and cozy corners for reading by lamp light.

When I travel, a super comfortable bed and blackout curtains are most important to me because I truthfully get my best sleep that way. The double studio room checks both boxes, so as far as I’m concerned the St. Gregory gets an A+, and I would love to stay again whenever I’m in Washington D.C. Check out some quick shots of my stay below!
