What The Fry! Might Just Serve Atlanta’s Best Wings

Atlanta is the best place in the US to consistently find great wings, and that’s not really debatable. I had some of the best wings of my life at What The Fry! inside Chattahoochee Food Works, and I must tell you why.

When you step up to their stall, it’s clear that it’s a wing joint, but what makes it special is that it’s a choose-your-own-adventure kind of experience. You start by picking how many wings you want and whether you want them naked or battered. Then you choose from a lineup of wing sauces that’s like a greatest hits playlist. There’s lemon pepper wet, garlic parmesan, sweet chili, country sweet, honey mustard and so many more. I went with the Honey Hot and Honey BBQ, and both were unmatched. The Honey Hot was the perfect sweet-then-spicy balance, and the Honey BBQ was sticky just the way I like them.

At What The Fry!, you get side of fries with your wings, and that means more options. Straight, crinkle cut, waffle, curly, tater tots, and about eight different seasonings to choose from. I built my own mini fry sampler and tried the straight fries with Cajun seasoning and waffle fries with sour cream and onion seasoning. Both were solid, but the waffle fries with sour cream and onion seasoning turned out to be my favorite. Sour cream and onion seasoning was new to me, but over crispy fries it was the combination I didn’t know I needed.

If you’re not in the mood for wings (somehow?), then the menu also features fried whiting, shrimp, salmon bites, and other appetizer-style meals that look just as good as the wings I’m going on about. If you’re in Atlanta and you love wings, or honestly if you just love eating, then What The Fry! deserves a top spot on your must-visit list.

Pro Tips:

  • Parking: Parking is free at Chattahoochee Food Works.

  • Order Time: Be prepared for a little bit of a wait. Wings are made fresh to order, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.

  • Best Combo: If you’re indecisive, start with Honey Hot wings and waffle fries with sour cream and onion seasoning.

  • Group-Friendly: Chattahoochee Food Works has lots of seating, so it’s a great spot to meet up with friends or grab a casual meal solo without feeling awkward.

  • Timing Tip: If you want to avoid crowds, try early afternoon or a weekday evening.
